We’re excited to announce that our Share a Haircut program is back for the entire month of August! Now in its 15th year, the program gives our younger Hair Cuttery clients* an opportunity to help children in need by providing them with a free haircut certificate for the back-to-school season. Since its launch in 1999, Hair Cuttery has donated more than 800,000 back-to-school haircuts. And this year, we expect to donate up to 125,000 more!
A free haircut can go a long way for any family, especially those in need. According to the National Retail Federation, the average cost of back-to-school spending for kindergarten through 12th grade was $635 in 2013.
Starting August 1, Hair Cuttery will donate one free haircut certificate to a child in need for every child’s haircut* purchased at a Hair Cuttery salon during the month of August. All of our salons nationwide will be participating in this great annual event, so check out our Salon Locator to find a location near you.
If your child isn’t due for a haircut just yet, or if you want to help out even more, you can donate a haircut online by going to the Share a Haircut blog page! To donate, you simply have to click “Share” to Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest.
The Share a Haircut program is very important to us as a company. Our Founder and CEO Dennis Ratner explains it best: “Share a Haircut is about the ritual of preparing for a new school year. A new haircut symbolizes a new start and new possibilities. We want kids to associate feeling good about themselves with getting ready for back to school.”
Whether you help us donate a back-to-school haircut by bringing your child into one of our salons or by visiting our Share a Haircut blog page, we can’t wait to see how many of you join together to help us support this important cause. Let’s help children in need start the school year off right!
