I have really been enjoying my new hair for the past two months and I won’t lie, I’ve been loving the attention from the change as well. It’s like an automatic pick-me-up when someone says “you got color” or ” I love your highlights!” and I immediately start smiling a little bigger. Call me vain if you want but we all like to look good and we all like to get compliments.
Today, I stopped by the Vienna Hair Cuttery to visit my fabulous Stylist, Shannon, and get a touch up and change of color. I loved the coppery color we did last time, it was funky and fun but I was ready for something a little different. Over the past two months, the color faded (as it will) but I was a little sad that it faded so fast. Still, I only had myself to blame because I didn’t get the Color Extend Shampoo which helps the color last longer.
This time Shannon made my highlights a brilliant shade of red and it is so fiery and fantastic that I wasn’t going to make the same mistake twice. The first thing I did when we were finished was to grab a Redken Color Extend Shampoo and It’s A 10 Miracle Leave-In. I had just spent my hard-earned cash on this awesome new look and felt it was worth the extra investment to ensure the color lasts as long as possible.

As both a Stylist and a client I have seen first-hand what getting the right shampoo and conditioner can do for hair. Color shampoos are specially formulated to prevent fading and keep the color bright and shiny. I don’t understand why anyone would spend money on a color, highlight or another chemical service and NOT get the right take home products to make their hair look good as long as possible. It is an investment and it also improves the condition of your hair after these types of services.
The truth is you’re going to buy shampoo and conditioner somewhere at some point so buy it at the salon where you have a professional making recommendations that will benefit you and your hair specifically. I also look at it as supporting my Stylist. If I were to buy from a drug or grocery store only the store benefits, when I buy from my Stylist I’m helping her to benefit a little. I don’t mind spending that extra dollar or two when it directly benefits someone I know and saves me an additional trip somewhere else for a similar but not salon-guaranteed product.
So do yourself a favor, next time you spend your money on an amazing service, ask your Stylist which products they recommend to keep your look looking great for as long as possible!! Make an investment in you. You’re worth it!
