Over the past few weeks, I have been privileged to experience why I love working at Hair Cuttery. In fact, there were four, clear signs that told me that I was exactly where I should be in life:
1) We recently held our mid-year meetings at the Resource Center and I was able to meet the rest of the Recruiting Team as well as our Field Education Leaders. I was, once again, amazed by the teamwork and genuine camaraderie that we are fortunate to have in our company. I’m not joking or exaggerating when I tell you what a warm and friendly environment exists in Ratner Companies.
For instance, another recruiter and I were stuck on the wrong floor and needed a pass card to go to the correct floor. We thought for a minute before I decided to head into the Field Educator room and just ask someone to give us a hand. I waited patiently for another employee to finish her conversation because I didn’t want to interrupt. Turns out she was speaking to Susan Gustafson, the President of Ratner Companies, who offered not only to help us get to our floor but to go up with us so she could say hello to the other recruiters.
Now, I ask you: When was the last time the President of your company offered to escort you to your meeting and say hello to the team?
2) Next, several members of our Metro Team for Hair Cuttery recently participated in Buzzing4Change, an annual event organized by George Washington University which helps raise money for kids with cancer. Hair Cuttery helps out with various organizations throughout the year and encourages all its Associates to join when they can. This particular event is a great time for stylists, district leaders, recruiters and even Associates from the home office to join in.
One of the best moments occurred when one of the original organizers came up to say hello to the stylists he had met over the years. He kept saying how he loved that Hair Cuttery was always available to help out and they love working with us.
Now, I ask you: When was the last time someone told you they love working with your company?
3) The other day I was making recruiter calls to potential stylist candidates when I got one particular woman on the phone who just made my day. She was so excited I had called her because she was familiar with Hair Cuttery and thought we were great. We talked for a while and she just kept saying how she’d love to work with us because we were a stable company and whenever she went into a Hair Cuttery it seemed like the salons were happy places to work.
Now, I ask you: When was the last time someone thought your work place was a happy place to work?
4) We recently had a special breakfast for our Top 16 salons in the Metro region. (There are about 90 salons in the Metro region, nearly 800 salons across the country, just in case you’re wondering) The breakfast had a Sweet 16 theme and in additional to Salon Leaders from those salons we also had all the Metro District Leaders, our Regional Leader and some members of the field team and some special guests from the Home Office. It was a great time!! There was a lot of recognition and special words for our top performers as well as some goodies and gifts. Notable moment of the morning was when I heard one of the Salon Leaders yell over “Hey Debbie (our VP of Operations), did you hear about our numbers last week?” and Debbie knew exactly what she was talking about.
Now, I ask you: When was the last time you were able to talk to a VP in your company in a casual, friendly atmosphere and you were both on the same page? Or that they even knew your name?
All in all it has been an amazing month and I really do feel very fortunate to work at Hair Cuttery and be surrounded by the good people there. I hope wherever you work you are lucky enough to be truly happy because it makes all the difference in the world!
