I recently spent time in our New England and Chicago Hair Salons, asking Stylists about WOW Service. Five years ago, Hair Cuttery rolled out a unique brand of customer service called WOW Service. The service outlines five separate areas in which each and every HC Stylist must perform to a basic set of standards. Those areas include: Greeting, Consultation, Shampoo, In-Service and Until Next Time. In the beginning, many Stylists didn’t really want to read a script or follow an established narrative. They thought customer service should come naturally and be more organic and less strict.
However, as the years have passed, Stylists have come to appreciate just how much WOW Service helps keep things consistent as well as putting additional money in their pockets. During my trip, Stylist after Stylist told me that WOW Service is alive and well. In fact, WOW Service is now the means by which all other value salons are judged. While keeping costs low, Hair Cuttery has still been able to increase service to our clients. It’s one thing to start a system that you hope will provide better customer service. However, it’s another thing entirely when the people who are in charge of that service tell you that they couldn’t be happier providing it.
