WOW Service: From a Skeptic to a Believer in Just One Haircut

Whether a Client enters a Hair Cuttery for restorative hair treatments, hair coloring or just a simple cut, we want them to leave feeling WOWed.
Our Stylists have many opportunities to WOW their Clients, and we hear wonderful stories all the time. The latest comes from Naia A. Hoyte who works in the Valley Centre Hair Cuttery salon in Owings Mills, MD.
“My WOW story happened one day while out in the Valley Centre Plaza where my Hair Cuttery Salon is located, a woman came up to me and asked if I did hair and I told her yes. She proceeded to tell me that she had not been to a salon in 8 years because the last salon she went to the Stylist and Clients laughed at her damaged hair. The experience was too much for her so she stopped going to salons and invested in wigs. So after I WOW-ed and delighted her she made an appointment with me for a style, shampoo and haircut.
The day she came in I could see that she was nervous. She asked me could we go into the salon bathroom so that she could show me her hair. I escorted her in there and she asked me not to laugh. She wanted to go in the bathroom because she was afraid of clients and stylists laughing at her. I could clearly see that she needed my help not only in taking care of her hair care needs but to compliment her also on her beauty. So I assured her that I could help her. I relaxed her hair, cut it, and put a conditioning rinse on it. She never looked in the mirror while the service was being performed and I kept empowering her with encouraging conversation so that she could feel good about herself and what I was doing for her.
Well, when I gave her the mirror she began to cry. I could only imagine that she was overwhelmed by what I had done because I had completely transformed her. As she cried and thanked me it made me cry as well because I had such a remarkable affect on this woman only because I took the time to give her service that no one else would. After her makeover, she went into the bathroom and put on makeup and strutted out of the salon with confidence that it truly warmed my heart and delighted my soul.
She is an ongoing customer of mine as well as her mother and daughter by referral. WOWing and delighting my clients is an absolute must, not only to build my clientele and increase my paycheck, but also it makes me feel good as a person to help another person feel good about themselves.”
