Well, according to Punxsutawney Phil, we've got six more weeks of winter.  The continuous cold, dry air can really wreak havoc on your hair.  Fortunately, we’ve got solutions to solve your winter hair problems.

7 Tips to Eliminate Dry Static-y Hair!

1.   Crank up the humidifier.

A humidifier will increase the moisture level in your room, thereby eliminating the static problem. Genius!

2.   Do a deep conditioning treatment at least once a week. Redken Real Control

Deep conditioning the hair is critical to achieving bouncy, luxurious, healthy hair in any hair care regimen. Try to find deep conditioners that are creamy and have a thick consistency since they really leave the hair feeling moisturized. We recommend  REDKEN Real Control Intense Renewal Super Moisturizing Mask.

3.   Use combs made of rubber or metal.

Apparently, plastic combs are the worst contributors to static.

4.   Try a serum or hair oil spray.

Cibu ProductsOur favorite is Cibu Ancient Serum with argan oil.  This product is worth its weight in gold because it has so many uses!  Use before you blowdry for added moisture and heat protection. Apply after you blowdry to smooth frizz.  Use on dry hair to boost shine.  Add to conditioning treatments for intense softness.  You can even use a pump or two in your hand and body lotion for extra moisturizing.  For thinner hair, there’s Cibu Ancient Veil . It eliminates a static-y hair problem like magic, without leaving hair feeling weighted-down.

5.   Hairspray is your friend.Big Sexy Hair spray

Spray a generous amount of hairspray onto your brush and brush your hair while it's still damp. It really helps get rid of the static. We highly recommend Sexy Hair Spray & Play Volumizing Hairspray.  It provides flexible hold, adds incredible shine and it holds without giving your hair that sticky, hairsprayed quality.

6.   Dry your hair with an ionic dryer.

This kind of dryer not only HUGELY reduces the amount of time it takes to dry your hair, but it also reportedly neutralizes the electric charge that creates static.

7.   Run a metal clothes hanger across your dry hair.

Absorb electrical currents in your hair by rubbing a metal hanger over your hair. Hold the hanger so it's touching your head and move it slowly downward. Make sure you contact every part of your hair. We know it sounds weird, but trust us, it works!

You're now set to tackle the rest of  winter and take heart that spring is just around the corner!  Come into your Hair Cuttery to find all of the products mentioned above.  Our professional stylists are ready to help you get the look you'll love and the products to help you maintain your style at home.  We'll have you smiling back, guaranteed!
